Wait, Animated GIFs are cool again?

I saw this video posted on churchm.ag (which is a cool site by the way) with some pretty amazing animated GIFs.

and I’m not saying that it’s time to bring back all the 3D rotating crosses, but this video got me thinking. Maybe we shouldn’t throw out the baby with the bath water. Maybe GIFs (Jiff’s according to certain peanut butter lovers) have a place with Meme’s and other web guilty pleasures.

Also, some people are calling these moving photos cinemagraphs, which makes sense cause they don’t seem to be in the same category as the animated GIFs that I remember.
