At first I wanted to put these pictures in the finger-wag-o-shame section of my site, but I realized the finger would only be wagging at me because I find them so freaking funny.
You’ve probably seen these pictures before, they are sweeping the internet and going viral.
Why these pictures are comedy gold:
They are well intentioned. Like Michael Scott not realizing he is doing anything wrong, these pictures continue to put the message that “Jesus is with You Always” out there. To some I am sure these pictures are encouraging and inspiring, but to most the idea of Jesus gazing over your shoulder with his hands outstretched seemingly saying “really, this is how you chose to spend your time” makes us laugh.
Not an irreverant laugh, but like you hit your funny bone. Does it hurt? Yes. Is it funny? Absolutely.
These pictures were put together by an artist named Larry Van Pelt. He started drawing the pictures at age 50. Here is quote from his site “I was awakened in the middle of the night with a clear, vivid impression that the Lord wanted me to do some special drawings — drawings depicting ordinary people in their everyday environment . . . . with one important addition: the presence of Jesus Christ and His involvement in those routine activities.”
As if you didn’t already feel bad for laughing.
You’re still laughing aren’t you?
Just imagine Jesus is over your shoulder now… He’d probably be laughing because he just hit his funny bone.
Is it okay to laugh?
Absolutely. We don’t need to take ourselves so seriously. Besides we are not laughing at Jesus on this one, we are laughing with Him.
So Thanks Larry for being the Christian Betty White.
